Caldicot Kids Triathlon - 2026
I just wanted to send an email of thanks for the Caldicott Kids Triathlon.
My son, Wilfred and his friends from school all entered as team Berkeley Blasters to the tin event and none of them had ever done an event or competition before. The event was so brilliantly organised, right from initial race packs that made the children really feel like they were doing a 'big event' and getting suitably excited. They were all quite nervous about going into the pool without parents but were welcomed so well at the door, they were all beaming as they came out: so proud of themselves already. They picked up their parents en route to the bike and all seemed totally engaged in 'transition time'. They were all smiling so much doing the cycle and run and the fact they saw each other at different points of the event through the arena style route was really great for them: they talked about this lots afterwards.
The big finish arch with a bell to ring and smooth transition onto a stage for a medal was a touch of genius: they all felt like they had won and had been treated fairly and celebrated equally.
I've never felt more proud of a group of children: they all pushed themselves and confidence was so high afterwards. Allowing parents to transition with them allowed so much support and all I could see were proud parents everywhere.
I must thank you as an organisational team for putting on such a brilliant day, encouraging children into sport and celebrating every single one of them. Wilfred couldn't believe that his name was called out on the loud speaker as he crossed the line: he honestly thinks he's famous now.
As a group, the children raised £1370 for Childhood Tumour's Trust, a charity close to their hearts too.
